Tara’s Patchwork by Kasey Rainbow - Background story from Tara:

Earlier this year I travelled to China to visit our suppliers and manufacturers with our production manager Georgia. Whenever we go we always make time to spend a day at the main fabric market in Guangzhou which is where pretty much all of the worlds fabrics are made and sold from. Even when you see things as made in Vietnam etc the bulk of the fabric will start here.

We were in China to finalise winter collections but the fabric market is always a season ahead at least so it's a great way to get inspiration and find beautiful new and exciting prints, colours, trims etc to plan into to our upcoming collections. The fabric market is huge. It sprawls over multiple blocks and levels - we were so lucky to have an amazing guide to help us navigate or chances are we would still be lost In there today.

Here we look for fabric based, trims, buttons, stick fabrics etc. One thing we saw a lot of was the patchwork/ mosaic style which I absolutely loved. I loved the blend of bright and bold colours and the way the clash of prints blended together to make beautiful artwork on fabric.

When we got back to Australia I shared all the beautiful treasures and bits and bobs I had found with Kasey Rainbow. We came up with the idea of making our own version so that the idea was the same but the print was unique.

I left it with Kasey and a few weeks later she shared what she had come up with and I was in love!!!
